A Santa Maria woman will be walking alongside Cedars-Sinai's "Donate Life" float at the Rose Parade in Pasadena on January 1.
When Terie Cota's brother-in-law suffered kidney failure three years ago, she wanted to do anything she could to help.
"I was going to donate a kidney to him," she said. "Unfortunately, a year-and-a-half ago he passed away. "
That day, Terie made a choice to still be a live donor. Six months ago, she gave one of her healthy kidneys to a man named Mick. He's the Harbor Operations Manager for the City of Santa Barbara. Just days ago, the two met for the first time.
