Beers was selected to ride on the float last year because of his efforts to promote organ donation. Beers received a kidney in 2005 and became an active volunteer for OneLegacy, the nonprofit organ and tissue organization serving the greater Los Angeles area.
Beers’ widow, Brenda, said the Rose parade experience was thrilling.
“The whole experience there was outstanding,” she said. “The day of the parade is so exciting. When people asked John about it, he said the only way he could describe it was like being a rock star for a couple hours.”selected to ride on the float last year because of his efforts to promote organ donation.
