A Knebworth woman, who was given just two years to live in 2010, celebrated “a very special Christmas” this year after receiving a double lung and heart transplant.
Kathryn Graham, of Stevenage Road, was diagnosed with Pulmanary Hypotension three and half years ago.
She was told by doctors she was terminally ill and put on the transplant list shortly after.
On September 30 she under went a lifesaving 10 hour operation to replace her diseased lungs and damaged heart at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge.
After spending five days in a coma, Kathryn awoke to a new life.
“I keep pinching myself,” the 52-year-old said. “Since the operation I have just been getting better and better.
