
Two-year-old Maci McCarrens was born with kidney and brain damage
(WMC-TV) - A little girl's fight against the odds is educating the Mid-South about the importance of an organ donation.
Two-year-old Maci McCarrens was born with kidney and brain damage.
Her mother, Jima McCarrens, said Maci is visually impaired and that her kidneys work but they do not filter.
"Which means all if the bad stuff in her body stays there," said Jima.
Maci was on peritoneal dialysis for two years to allow her stomach to grow large enough for an adult kidney. She was on a transplant list for eight weeks and two days.
