THE family of a teenager killed in a car crash in Sheffield just days after his 19th birthday say the lives he saved by donating his organs have given them some comfort in the aftermath of the tragedy.
The 19-year-old from the Shirecliffe area of the city was a passenger in a car which crashed into a post on November 10. He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham with life-threatening injuries but pronounced dead at the same hospital three days later.
After his family told staff at the hospital that he wanted to donate his organs, medics took his lungs, liver, bowels and kidneys and made them available for transplants for four other people.
