
16-year-old Michael Caraway is honoring his donor by feeding the homeless in Oakland once per month
An Oakland teenager is making good on his promise to show thanks for an organ donation.
Sixteen-year old Michael Caraway and his family served Thanksgiving dinner to those less fortunate in West Oakland’s Fitzgerald Park.
Caraway was stricken with liver failure when he was 11-years-old.
He received a transplant from a Los Angeles teenager killed in an accident.
Since then, Caraway and his family feed the needy every Thanksgiving to honor his donor Johnny Hernandez.
"It’s always an honor to honor him, so it’s always good to feed for him since he’s not here, and feed for his family and just have a different impact on people's lives," Caraway said.
