Houma native Robyn Doiron will be honored on the Donate Life float in the Rose Parade on Jan. 1 for an act of generosity that saved several local lives.
Doiron died in 2004 at age 34 after being in a car accident. Her family honored her wishes to donate her organs to people in need.
On New Year's Day, a floragraph of her image — a design made from flowers — will hang on the float. Doiron is one of 81 donors across the country who will be honored at the parade.
The float's 30 riders will be organ, eye or tissue recipients, and the 12 people walking alongside the float will be kidney donors.
Rachel Doiron said she and her sister made the decision to be organ donors more than 20 years ago.
