Breathing is something that most take for granted, but for 15-year-old Drew Husch, it’s something he once longed for.
Husch was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at the age of two, and by age nine his symptoms had taken a turn for the worse. His name was immediately placed on a list for double lung transplant surgery.
“My family and I waited for nine months until my doctors found a set of lungs that were the right fit for me,” Husch, the 2013 Christmas Seals ambassador, said at a press conference held at Millennium Place on Friday, Dec. 6.
“There are many people who are still waiting for the right organ donation to save their life. This is why it’s so important to commit yourself to organ donation when you renew your driver’s licence next year.”
