
HAMMOND — A Hammond man who needs a kidney transplant is getting a lot of attention after he formed a Facebook page looking for a donor.
Through his Facebook page called “Scott Needs a Kidney,” Scott W. Kron, 44, is reaching out to family, friends and strangers to find a living donor for himself, as his own kidneys have failed.
On his Facebook page, which has 302 likes, Mr. Kron asks, “Can’t wait for the weekend? Try waiting for a life-saving organ.”
Mr. Kron, who has IgA nephropathy, a hereditary kidney disease, started experiencing higher-than-average blood pressure in January.
The father of six is undergoing dialysis three times a week and can no longer work or perform his duties as a volunteer firefighter and town Highway Department employee.
