Although her two-year-old son is Sandra Martinez’s only child, she thinks of herself as a mother of two.
The York woman picks up and cuddles her 27-month-old toddler, Sebastian Correa, as he scampers by in the living room of their home in the area of Eglinton Avenue and Dufferin Street.
Then, her eyes tear up with love and gratitude as she thinks of her “second” child. She doesn’t know who this youngster was, other than he or she died very young and the parents agreed to donate organs so that other children could live,
Sebastian is alive today because he received this unknown child’s heart, said Martinez as her husband, Mauricio Correa, nodded in agreement.
