For 11 years, Laura Finn of Allen Park waited for the day when her son Ryan—who was born with kidney disease—would be sick enough that he would need a transplant.
That day came this summer, when Ryan’s monthly test showed that his kidney function was starting to worsen. Ryan has renal dysplasia, which is an abnormal tissue development in the kidney.
Concerned with finding a match, Laura shared Ryan’s story with her co-workers at Childtime Daycare in Canton, where she is the school’s director.
After hearing that Ryan, age 11, had Type O blood, one of Laura’s part-time employees stepped forward.
