PICAYUNE — Gladys Vaughn remembers her sister, Delores Cagins’, journey in getting a transplant.
“She spent 3 years needing transplant,” Vaughn said. “She got a call on New Year’s night but they called her back within an hour because it was not a match. Then around 1 a.m., soon after, she got the call and had friends drive her to Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. I met her at Ochsner that afternoon.
“After she had the surgery, she never had pain. She mainly complained about the medical staff coming in to check her.”
