Earlier this month, three organ recipients, along with University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) transplant doctors and staff signed the official Transplant Games of America flag as it traveled through Seattle. Every two years, over 3,000 transplant recipients and living donors gather to celebrate organ, eye and tissue donation by participating in a variety of athletic competitions at the Transplant Games of America. The Games are held at rotating locations and will be at the BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston in 2014.
One of the recipients and Transplant Games participant present was Turner Prewitt. Turner received a heart transplant at UWMC in 2008and since served on the UWMC Patient/Family Advisory ICU Council.
