TORONTO - Cheryl Parker’s daughter Rachel died from a sudden illness 15 years ago but she turned the tragedy into a holiday gift that saved two other children’s lives through organ donation.
“Rachel was able to give the best Christmas present,” said Parker, a organ donation advocate, who stresses the holidays are an important time of year for families to discuss organ donation and the gift of life.
A month before eight-year-old Rachel died in 1998, Parker was reading an article about a Hamilton boy whose life was saved by a lung transplant.
